The Missa Gaia (Earth Mass) series was part of the body of work completed during my year as artist in residence at Waikato Polytechnic College in New Zealand in 1988.

The pieces were inspired by Paul Winter’s Missa Gaia mass, written for, and performed each year on the feast day of Saint Francis of Assisi at the Cathedral of St John the Divine in New York City.
