technique mixte

These days the term ‘mixed media’ often points towards the use of video and digital imagery.  I don’t – as yet – incorporate those media in my work, so I have resorted to the classic French term used when an artisan employs a variety of processes and materials in his or her work.  By far the bulk of my work fits in this category.  This is a small sampling.

Collage, assemblage, paper-making, textile dyeing and painting, oil and acrylic painting, off-loom weaving, stitching and gilding are some of the techniques used in the making of these works.

Details are shown in the thumbs, with links to the full-size image.
